Gilera DNA is the revolutionary hybrid that rides like a motorcycle but is as comfortable and easy to use as a scooter. The DNA GP Experience 50cc has benefited from the DNA's stint as official MotoGP scooter, with top performance from a high-tech two stroke HI-PER2 PRO engine. Selected by motorcycle Grand Prix organiser Dorna as "Official scooter of the MotoGP Championship", the Gilera DNA 50 GP Experience is as innovative as any vehicle halfway between a motorcycle and scooter can get. The choice of the Hi-PER2 PRO two-stroke engine now makes this revolutionary two wheeler even more fun to ride. A high-performance propulsion, it puts the Gilera DNA GP Experience at the top in terms of pick up and acceleration. The use of special ratios and a lighter clutch, developed by Gilera technicians after use on the circuit, lets this new Gilera DNA offer a really different riding experience. The Gilera DNA GP Experience takes the innovative motorcycle-scooter world interaction theme further and adapts it to use by European teenagers. The GP Experience makes specific reference to the racing world. The carbon-look effect of various components such as the new analogue/digital instrumentation and the new graphics bring this hybrid closer to the aggressive GP bikes from which it takes its inspiration. Bends, braking, handling and performance on the DNA are worthy of a motorcycle, but the automatic transmission, helmet compartment and the immediate feeling of confidence that the vehicle imparts belong to the scooter sector. This revolutionary vehicle abandons the shape and structure of the scooter for technical and design solutions that are typical of the "naked" sports motorcycle. But easy handling is guaranteed by the automatic transmission which has very quick pick-up and acceleration. The exclusivity of this vehicle concept is based on the frame quality and cutting-edge technology and components. The running advantages typical of a motorcycle, such as pinpoint steering, stability on corners and safe braking, are placed in a vehicle with automatic transmission that offers entirely new sensations thanks to the ride set-up and the knee supports, which make for better cornering. The Gilera DNA's cycle parts are designed for total control of the vehicle and to permit bends that are unthinkable for a scooter. Its open-cradle frame with two descending steel beams is meant to offer exceptional flexural and torsional rigidity. The hydraulic fork with 35 mm shafts and dual protection plates as on a motorcycle is in full view, in keeping with the DNA's "naked" styling - essential but sporty. The braking system uses a 240-mm front disk with 25-mm dual-piston floating calliper in front and a rear 200-mm disk with a calliper and two 30-mm opposed pistons. Five-spoke wheel rims in die-cast aluminium alloy and large tubeless racing tyres (12/70x14" in front, 140/70x14" at the rear) complete the DNA's cycle parts. This configuration gives the Gilera DNA motorcycle-type riding behaviour, guarantees absolute safety and new levels of riding pleasure due to ergonomic tests, as well as equitable weight distribution. The rider's sensation of being in perfect control of this markedly sporty vehicle is emphasised by a handlebar composed of two custom-designed semi-handles in pressed aluminium alloy. The lavish instrumentation of the Gilera DNA combines analogue and digital equipment. The analogue section features a rev counter similar to those on the latest sport bikes, while the comprehensive digital equipment includes a mileage counter, speedometer, water temperature and fuel gauges, clock and trip meter. The full-face helmet storage compartment is hidden by the sinuous shape of the lockable fuel tank. Unlike scooters that have the storage bay under the seat, this repositioning takes the rider's seated height to just 770mm from the ground. The foot rests adjust to three positions to help riders of any height make themselves comfortable. Turning a single key on the left of the storage compartment gives access to the helmet container and fuel tank, so the rider doesn't need to get off to refuel. Marked by a distinctive front fairing and powerful headlamp section, the Gilera DNA has a typically race-type "tail" that can carry a passenger if necessary. It joins the large rear lamp set, which includes direction indicators. The colour range that includes Dragon Red and Steel Blue highlights the sport style of the Gilera DNA.
As above, but the Gilera DNA 125cc delivers more power, more speed and more excitment with its 4 stroke, 4 valve, liquid cooled engine. With 15hp, DNA 125cc has the maximum legal power in this displacement, and 14´´ wheels and dual rear suspension provide excellent road handling. All this along with the twist and go transmission and helmet storage compartment make the Gilera DNA 125 a seriously desirable machine. |
